Dr. Robert Brown, a seasoned scientific, technical and leadership professional, has been directing photonics research and development for several decades. He is an expert in photonics theory, simulation - and experimental photonics and nano-photonics involving lasers, photo-detectors, optical-fibers and systems. Dr. Brown has held several high-profile leadership positions, including Board Chair, CEO & Executive Director, CTO, and Full Professor for over 25 years. He has extensive business experience in Asia, including China, Japan, Korea, and Russia. Dr. Brown has demonstrated success in building new research teams, creating long-term strategic vision and convincing peers and Boards to invest substantial resources. He has received numerous honors and awards for his contributions to the field of photonics research, including the 2020 Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award.

Dr. Brown is currently a Full Professor at the University of California, Irvine's Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic, where he continues to conduct cutting-edge research in photonics. He has also held several leadership positions in the past, including Vice Chair at the Tesla Foundation, CEO of the American Institute of Physics, CTO at Ostendo Technologies Inc., Professor and Director of Nanotechnology at Queen's University Belfast, and Executive Director of the UK Institute of Physics, among others.

Dr. Brown's contributions to photonics research span across a wide range of applications, from jet engines and macromolecules to submarines and the Space Shuttle. He has published around 125 peer-reviewed research papers, and his inventions have led to more than 65 patents granted. Dr. Brown was elected as a Member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (Academia Europaea), a testament to his immense contributions to the scientific community.
