Timo Antikainen is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the hi-tech sector. He has held various positions in managing director, sales management, and business development roles. Antikainen earned a Master's degree in Technology and has a diploma in International Marketing Management.
Before his current position as Director of Business and Economic Development at Tampereen kaupunki - City of Tampere, Antikainen was Vice President, Business Development & Senior Business Development Director at Invest in Finland, leading the team responsible for promoting Finnish investment opportunities to foreign multinationals. He assisted global service companies in setting up business-critical operations and successfully attracted FDI into Finland.
In early 2000, Antikainen played a significant role in the innovation team of Patria Ailon Oy, developing a wireless surveillance system that won The Best of Comdex in 2002. Before that, he was in charge of sales to the European Space Agency for Finnyards Electronics Oy, closing deals for various space missions.
Antikainen is also a board member of several city-related organizations and private sector companies. He possesses expertise in economic and innovation policy issues, company relations, and startup ecosystem development.
