Robert Osmond is a seasoned executive with a remarkable track record in information technology, business transformation, organizational change, and human capital management. He brings over 30 years of experience, having collaborated with more than 30 major public and private institutions on six continents. Prior to being appointed as the Commonwealth Chief Information Officer of Virginia, Bob served as the Chief of Technology and Business Strategy at the Virginia Department of Transportation. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech. Bob is an accomplished lecturer and has been a guest speaker at several universities, including Georgetown and the University of Maryland. Additionally, he is a former President of the Maryland Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD).

As the CIO of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Bob is responsible for leading information technology and serving as the agency head for the Virginia Information Technologies Agency. He has a vast array of specialties, including application development and management, project and program management, software deployment, social learning, training development, and instructional design.
