A member of the executive management team with responsibility for developing and implementing the commercial execution strategy, to ensure delivery of the company’s financial objectives. With particular focus on the global channel strategy (both direct and distribution partner channels, including establishing US operations) to deliver the required revenue, and executing on a marketing plan that continually feeds the sales funnel. The team consisted of Sales, Sales Applications (FAS),  Regional Tactical Marketing, Technical Support, Field Service and Customer Services.

General Manager and Executive Director of Weatherbys Scientific, an agrigenomic service provider with expertise in Bovine and Equine genomics, as well as other livestock and companion animal species.

As leader of the organisation this was a cross-functional role with complete P&L responsibility and direct reporting lines from all global functions. The team of up to 40 operated across multiple locations and included, R&D, Product Management, Laboratory Scientists, Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, Finance, Operations, IT & Facilities.  

Also an executive director sitting on the boards of both Weatherbys Scientific and Weatherbys Scientific Australia Pty Ltd.

Leader of the EMEA Inside Sales and Lead Generation function. The group consisted of Regional Inside Sales Managers that had teams of Inside Sales Representatives, Account Managers and Service Contract Specialists, and a Lead Generation Manager, who had a team of specialists focused on lead generation, qualification and general alignment with the regional marketing and commercial operations groups.

Leader of the global marketing function for Alfa Aesar, part of the Global Chemicals business within the Laboratory Products Group of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The team of 28 people included Product Management, Market Intelligence, Digital Marketing (Python web development, eCommerce, Salesforce CRM, Pardot Marketing Automation & Social Media), Communications, Branding and the Regional Marketing groups in US, EMEA and APAC. 

Prior to the acquisition, a member of the Alfa Aesar company senior management team. The team responsible for preparing for the sale of Alfa Aesar and the integration into Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The marketing function did not exist prior to joining, so the initial responsibilities were to build a new team, create a vision and the marketing strategy, then to drive customer engagement through significantly enhancing our digital capabilities (implemented Salesforce CRM and Pardot globally, and built 2 new websites). All aimed at delivering a transformational level of change in how we go-to-market.

Home-Start is a national charity with local subsidiaries, set up to offer support and friendship to parents with young children. These families experience a wide variety of difficulties and the support Home-Start provides helps them to build better lives for their children.

Non Executive Director and Trustee

Chief of Staff to the President of EMEA for the Life Science Solutions Group (formerly Life Technologies) and a member of the EMEA Leadership team. A role that gave wide-spread experience in many functions and a great overview of General Management. Responsibilities included managing the operating mechanisms of the region, assisting in the creation and implementation of the regional strategy as well as leading several strategically important projects.

Additional responsibility as the Program Leader for the Stratified Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre (www.stratmed.co.uk). Leading an internal cross-functional team (finance, legal, facilities, scientific, lab management) and working with external partners from industry, academia and NHS (as an observer to the board of directors). We built an innovation centre capable of linking genomic data to patient health records to transform the management of chronic disease in Scotland.

Chief of Staff, EMEA

Leading a team of 6 Tactical Marketing Managers, for both the Biology and Labware segments within the EMEA region. The main responsibility was to create and execute an annual regional tactical marketing plan. This plan required input from key stakeholders in sales, was to be in alignment with the global marketing strategy, and importantly had to give the required ROI whilst being within the given budget. Additional responsibility for regional pricing/discount management, annual sales meeting planning and leading a significant and global new business development project.
