As an extension of the Founding team, I had the pleasure and pride of helping shape where Lighthouse Labs is today. Joining in year 1 and employee number 5 I created and oversaw the programming, processes and people that ensure our grads are job-ready and our employment outcomes remain something we are proud to share each year.  I was a direct part of growing Lighthouse Labs across Canada as well as my department to a team of 7 across the country.

I wore a ton of different hats and drove many initiatives and partnerships over my time, including wearing the Director of HR hat to ensure our people were taken care of.

I am super passionate about this role and Lighthouse Labs as it solves a REAL problem in re: to the need for developers in the job market and helps foster innovation and entrepreneurship.

GrowLab Ventures and Extreme Startups announced their merger Aug 19, 2014.

As Program Director at GrowLab I was directly involved in this process participating in both the backend execution of the merger as well as the initial planning phases for HIGHLINE’s launch.

I am proud to have helped grow GrowLab and be part of such an exciting merger of equals. Although I decided to end my time in the business of growing and running an accelerator I believe strongly in the need for programs supporting entrepreneurs.

Launch Academy is a non-profit group that provides mentorship and programming in a highly collaborative co-working environment.

I continue to work with wide range of startups at different stages. I organize, host and participate in office hours, mentorship sessions, community events and workshops sharing my experience and expertise in HR, Pitch Development and general startup advice. I also have direct experience in the Startup Visa Program.

I worked closely with the Launch Academy team to help develop and innovate on the program offerings as well as provide HR consultation.

GrowLab was one of Canada's premier accelerator programs that support the world’s best tech entrepreneurs through seed funding, office space, mentorship & programming in Vancouver and San Francisco!

I joined to work directly with the Executive Director to plan and execute programming for our cohorts. A lean team I did it all from program creation, execution, event planning, partnerships, mentoring, office management and bookkeeping! My operational skills were tested and I learned A TON about how business grow and how the VC world works.

GrowLab was a major collaborator and contributor to Vancouver’s tech scene during this period. It was a pretty big deal. I am proud of my work- the many partnerships I facilitated, the events I executed and the role I had the privilege of playing in the success of our Cohort companies.

Also I literally got to watch our companies pitch and get feedback from VC’s (incl in SF) on a weekly basis... I still offer pitch coaching as a side gig.

An HR Generalist with a focus on high volume, full cycle recruitment and on boarding for Vancouver, Toronto and Los Angeles offices.

Worked  alongside the Internal Operations Manager to manage all functions of HR. Took initiatives to improve upon current processes, procedures as well as office culture.

NEWAD is Canada's fastest growing place based communications company. The core of any campaign focusing on the young and affluent, a highly coveted segment of 18-34 year olds.

Reporting into Montreal, I was a true HR Generalist .My position was created as a direct result of this growth and was the first HR position in Western Canada and I was HR the point of contact for the Vancouver, Calgary and Edmond offices.

Gaining the trust and respect from my management team, who had never worked with HR before, I became a reference point for performance, disciplinary and employee relation issues. I was responsible for coordinating and communicating two round of layoffs for the Western Canadian Offices.

Recruiting for all levels of positions  across Western Canada during the employment "boom" I learned the need to sell a company and position.

I also created contacts with teachers and students in Marketing programs at Colleges and Universities across the West in order to increase NEWAD's profile as an employer. A major focus of NEWAD's HR Department.

This position allowed me to both learn and stretch my creative legs in all aspects of HR.  Gaining a progressive amount of responsibilities as I grew, my performance reviews consistently recognized me for my creativity, work ethic and judgement.

I worked between the 3 busiest store locations as I completed my education.
I was very involved in Red Robin's training program, being a trainer for new employees as well as training future store trainers. I was also involved in helping train stores that were struggling. I was very interested in the business and training aspect of the co. and took my position as a bartender/server/shift leader and trainer as far as I could without moving into management.
