Matthew Barlin is a data and engineering consultant with a passion for developing mathematical constructs for Crypto economics. With over a decade of experience as a naval architect and educator, Matthew brings a unique perspective to his work as a Lead Systems Engineer at BlockScience, a Data Scientist and Technical Advisor at Fr8 Network, and as the principal consultant at Barlin Data and Engineering Consultants.

Matthew is a graduate of Webb Institute, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he studied Ocean Engineering and Ocean Systems Management. He has also continued his education through a variety of courses, including Linear Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, and Digital Electronics, to name just a few.

Using R, SQL, Python, Tableau, Mathematica, PowerBI, AutoDesk Suite, NI LabVIEW, and MultiSIM, Matthew has worked on a variety of data analysis, mathematical modeling, and control system designs, making him a flexible problem solver, able to tackle a wide range of issues.

When he's not working, Matthew enjoys spending time in nature, whether he's hiking in the summer, canoeing in the fall or skiing in the winter. He volunteers as the treasurer of a non-profit backcountry ski club and as a National Ski Patrol Alpine Patroller where he brings his emergency medical training and experience.
