Marc Alt is a seasoned professional with a diverse background in design, ecology, and technology. Over the years, Marc has focused on promoting a world that works for all living things, connecting mission and strategy with the principles of ecology, biomimicry, natural systems, and simplicity. His current projects revolve around improving the quality of life in cities through new ways of thinking about human-scale development, living systems, urban mobility, and the built environment.

In addition to his work on sustainable development, Marc runs two small Western outdoor equipment, apparel, and accessories companies, Vagabond Mfg. Co. and RODEAR Co., that do all production in the United States. Marc has been recognized for his work as the Spokesperson for the 100% electric BMW Active-E for BMW AG on BMW.com and the Spokesperson for the 100% electric MINI-e trial for MINI USA. He also created a carbon offset program for MINI USA for MINI Cooper drivers in the U.S.

Marc's past highlights include being the Founding Executive Director and Advisory Board Member of the Green Parking Council, a Founding Advisory Board Member of Sustainable Brands, Co-Founder of the Designers Accord, and a Chairman and Founder of AIGA Center for Sustainable Design.

In his spare time, Marc applies permaculture principles in his home in California and is a contributing writer, editor, and photographer to several publications.
