Altug Aksoy

Altug Aksoy is a Scientist with a strong focus on tropical cyclone data assimilation. He works at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory / Hurricane Research Division and the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science / Cooperative Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Studies. Altug is renowned as the lead developer of the Hurricane Ensemble Data Assimilation System (HEDAS).

Altug Aksoy holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from Texas A&M University, an MBA in Finance & Investments from The George Washington University, and a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey. His expertise encompasses mesoscale and tropical cyclone modeling and data assimilation, radar data assimilation, ensemble forecasting, ensemble data assimilation, and parameter estimation.
