Dennis Stone is a highly experienced aerospace professional with over 40 years in the industry. He is currently a Project Executive in NASA’s Commercial LEO Program Office at the Johnson Space Center, where he supports the growth of commercial service supply and demand in Low Earth Orbit. Throughout his career, which spans over three decades at NASA, he's managed nearly $1B investment in commercial space capabilities. He's a trailblazer who helped create NASA's successful Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) program, investing in SpaceX and Orbital Sciences Corp. to carry cargo between Earth and LEO. Stone has served as the business lead for both COTS investment rounds and the initial phases of Commercial Crew. Furthermore, he spent more than 20 years in International Space Station (ISS) program management, including as Chief System Engineer of the Assured Crew Return Vehicle and creating the ISS Program’s risk management system. At Ford Aerospace and McDonnell Douglas Astronautics Co, he began his space career, designing flight avionics and ground systems and supporting Shuttle/payload integration at Rockwell.

Outside of NASA, Stone serves as volunteer President of the World Space Week Association, a non-profit organization that coordinates UN-declared World Space Week across the globe. He is also the CEO of Ion Biotechnology, a company focused on using coordination chemistry to develop therapeutic compounds for cancer treatment. Stone holds two Bachelor of Science degrees, in Physics and Electrical Engineering, from the University of Hawaii, and is an Associate Fellow of the AIAA.
