Nicolas Burrus is a highly accomplished computer vision engineer and team leader, with extensive experience in academic research, software engineering, and leadership. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from UPMC-ENSTA-LIRIS, a Master's in Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing from Pierre and Marie Curie University, and a degree in Computer Science from EPITA: Ecole d'Ingénieurs en Informatique.

Burrus started his career as a research intern at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, US, before becoming a postdoctoral scholar at the University of Liège and a researcher at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. As a Java teacher at ESILV, Burrus shared his knowledge and expertise with students, helping to inspire a new generation of computer scientists.

In 2011, Burrus co-founded Manctl, a company focused on building machine learning and computer vision solutions. The success and momentum of their popular open-source project for RGBD processing led him to join the Microsoft/Techstars program and to develop Skanect, a 3D scanning software that later became part of Occipital.
