Joined a 2 person engineering team to rebuild our consumer site, succeeded in building a highly available, highly scalable, performant system. Evolving our system from a small domestic site to a global system, operating in 6 countries across multiple datacenters, powering a multi-billion dollar company with ambitions to grow even further.Built OpenTable’s core systems powering every search, reservation, and user login. Manage teams responsible for the evolution and maintenance of these systems  as well as the team responsible for our data platform.Support the organization providing technical leadership and guidance in large scale projects that cut across our entire system and involve several teams.Accomplishments of note:• Lead transformation of our monolithic system into a Service Oriented Architecture• Launched distributed data solutions enabling globalization of  our system hosted in multiple datacenters.• Manage team responsible for our highly scalable incredibly fast search solution -- allowing real-time access to table availability.• Conducted due diligence and lead the integration toptable (OpenTable’s biggest acquisition and most formidable competitor in the UK), overseeing the consolidation of our technologies.

Part of the vanguard of engineers who built this company from a 9 person startup to a 200+ person organization. Focused on system design of our portable engine , designed to be ported to as embedded system (such as a television or set top box), which downloaded proprietary apps broadcast in the vertical blanking interval of a television broadcast -- think apps for your television in 1995. Software was delivered to over 3 million homes, company went public , and was ultimately acquired by OpenTV. Lead our portable engine team, reporting team, and our authoring tools team.
