Kai "Pita" Katobalavu is a reggae musician, lead singer, and manager at Unity The Band Inc. Born in the Fiji Islands, Katobalavu was largely self-taught in music, learning how to play various instruments and mastering complex combinations of voices and dance called meke. His passion for music began when he started following his uncle's band, The Blue Ribbon, which opened his eyes to the vastness and power of music. Katobalavu discovered reggae music and was inspired by the message of inspiration and struggle against oppression it carried. He then pursued a career in music and formed a band called Polynesian Connection that combined reggae, ska, and rock. Currently, he manages and leads Unity The Band, continuing to spread the message of inspiration and hope through his music.
