Graduate Management Assistant

Directed three integrated strategic business units for multi-million dollar service organization. Drove strategic direction of agency and managed day-to-day operations including finance and accounting, human resources, marketing and communications, and National Service programs. Managed eight direct reports including three business unit directors whom oversaw more than 600 national service participants. Strategy and Operational Leadership: • Designed and directed complete rebranding campaign to present new, energized public image of WNY AmeriCorps. • Led major change management effort in 2008 to separate AmeriCorps grant programs from municipality control. Transferred programs, grants, and expenses to WNY AmeriCorps Fund, growing nonprofit from $1 million to $10 million. Established new infrastructure and operating system to manage new mission.• Charted a course for continued growth of WNY AmeriCorps, with agency ranking in top 1% of all 7,700 registered area nonprofits in 2010 revenue.Financial Performance:• Successfully handled unusual dual assignment as both COO & CFO. Strengthened financial systems by designing annual budget process, instituting quarterly budget performance and monthly P&L reviews, and conducting cash flow and financial forecasts. • Formulated and presented comprehensive financial management strategies and reports to Board of Directors, while providing key information related to fiscal health of agency.Special Projects:Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Buffalo: Served as Director of Volunteer Operation for ABC’s hit TV show. Designed and directed largest volunteer service project in show history by leveraging 200 national service members into 6,336 volunteers through call to action to build a green home for a deserving family. Effort inspired an entire community revitalization movement completing projects for 164 families within 2.5 weeks in what came to be known as “Extreme Makeover: Neighborhood Edition.”

Western New York AmeriCorps

Led three AmeriCorps programs for Town of West Seneca, providing community service opportunities for youth aged 5-25.  Held additional role managing contracts and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Consistently created nearly 100 new work opportunities each year for youth to serve their community. Achieved high marks from Inspector General for the Corporation of National and Community Service following full three-year audit of $10 million in state and federal grant money.Charged with completing re-branding initiative to reinvigorate AmeriCorps identity portfolio, including new public image, brand name, style guide, and operational policies. Developed a more effective process for securing partner contracts based on a direct marketing campaign, resulting in 150+ community partner contracts and memoranda of understanding.
