Jamila Akil

Jamila Akil is an experienced Grant Manager, with a passion for administration and a strong background in government administration. Having studied Liberal Arts and Sciences, General Studies and Humanities at Southern Illinois University, she possesses a diverse skill set that includes Microsoft Word, Sales, Teamwork, Email Marketing, and Microsoft Excel. She began her career working at the Illinois Department of Human Services as an Office Assistant, before progressing through various positions, including Office Coordinator and Human Services Caseworker.

In her most recent role at the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, Jamila served as Grant Manager for the CSBG Program. In this role, she demonstrated her exceptional case management skills and ability to manage complex grant processes. Previously, she also served as Grant Monitor, Violence Against Women Act Programs at the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority.

Jamila is highly skilled in people and project management, and her experience in government administration has given her a strong understanding of how to navigate complex regulations to achieve organizational goals.
