Jianhua Lu is an accomplished research manager, specializing in the field of machine learning, automatic speech recognition, and Natural Language Understanding. He has extensive industrial experience in mining large speech data sets, grid computing, parallel computing, and building large-scale speech applications. Mr. Lu has a PhD in Computer Science from Queen's University Belfast, as well as a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Control Theory and Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology. Before joining Amazon as the Manager for Alexa Machine Learning, he was the Senior Research Scientist and Manager for ASR Research at Nuance Communications.

During his years of experience, Mr. Lu has gained a vast knowledge of statistical acoustic modeling, neural network and deep learning for speech and language processing. He has a keen interest in speech recognition and NLU, which have been his primary research areas. With his expertise, he has contributed significantly in his field by providing research insights, developing applications, and building machine learning models.
