Stephen Gilman, a passionate education advocate and experienced educator with an impressive background spanning both the private and public sectors, is on a mission. He seeks to revolutionize K-12 education by replacing outdated lecture-based techniques with student-centered, inquiry-based, experiential learning. With a BA in Government and Politics, Education Policy and Programming from George Mason University, and an MA in Education, Secondary Social Studies Education with a GPA of 4.0, from the City University of New York City College, Gilman is well-equipped to lead educational transformation.
Gilman's journey began as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division of the US Army. He's also worked as an assistant producer at Dayspring International, systems manager for Rep. Herb Bateman, communications manager for United Way of the National Capital Area, marketing manager at VoxCap.com Network, and business development manager for WorldWeb. Additionally, Gilman has authored a novel, Nightshade, and served as a volunteer at civic engagements, further expanding his skills across various fields.
Gilman's work in education has been noteworthy, serving as a social studies teacher at Rondout Valley High School, an education director at the Center for Creative Education, and a founder and executive director at MakerState, the now-global maker-centered learning platform.
