Ian McHugh

Ian McHugh is a British-trained teacher of History with a passion for creating a supportive and harmonious learning environment where students can thrive.

With nineteen years of experience in the classroom and educational management, Ian believes in the value of an internationally-minded world view and advocates for the International Baccalaureate Programmes, particularly post-16.

He specializes in History and Theory of Knowledge and emphasizes the importance of 'service learning' to broaden students' horizons.

Ian has held various leadership roles in international schools across the globe, including positions in the UK, Thailand, China, Brazil, El Salvador, and the Isle of Man.

Currently serving as the IB Diploma Coordinator at Compass International School in Doha, Ian values diversity, cooperation, and the common humanity that unites us all.

In his personal life, Ian is a loving husband to Louise and a dedicated father to his two daughters, Florence and Eadlin. He is enthusiastic about connecting with others to share his educational philosophy and experiences.
