Alexander Taussig, a seasoned venture capitalist with over 12 years of experience, has joined Lightspeed Venture Partners as a partner on the consumer investment team. Holding an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master's in materials engineering from MIT, Taussig is known for his passion for partnering with founders who are using technology to disrupt massive industries like food, retail, and education. At Lightspeed, he has led investments in various startups including Faire, Zola, and Outschool that have reimagined traditional commerce categories using cutting-edge technology. Additionally, Taussig co-leads Lightspeed's Latin America practice and is responsible for the firm's investment in Frubana. Prior to joining Lightspeed, Taussig was a partner at Highland Capital Partners, where he supported over a dozen successful companies including thredUP and Carbon Black. He is also a trained research scientist and publishes a popular weekly newsletter called Drinking from the Firehose that highlights current trends in various fields.
