Amanda Castleman
Amanda Castleman is a writer and photographer with expertise in travel, adventure, health, science, business, and the environment. With a Bachelor of Arts degree in Latin and Classical Studies from the University of Washington, Castleman has contributed to over 30 books and numerous publications, including Afar, Outside, Sierra, National Geographic, and The New York Times. She has won accolades such as Lowell Thomas awards for adventure and cultural coverage and a grand silver Solas Award for Best Travel Writing. Castleman has also held roles in editing, graphic and web design, and journalism instruction since 2003. Her photography is showcased on amandacastlemanphotography.com, where she also offers workshops in pitching and travel writing. Castleman continues to be an authoritative voice on Seattle, Vancouver, and Hawaii for Afar magazine, as well as contributing to American Express's magazine and Rutgers University.
