Dean Mayer is a seasoned public relations professional with over 20 years of experience. He honed his skills first as an award-winning journalist before transitioning into PR for a variety of reputable companies. He studied Journalism at both the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Northwestern University, earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in the field, respectively.

Dean spent a majority of his career at Clif Bar & Company, where he established the organization as one of the foremost socially-responsible businesses in the nation. He crafted and executed a comprehensive communications strategy that helped Clif Bar grow from 75 employees to over 1,200, with sales domestically and internationally. He specializes in media relations, corporate communications, brand communications, message development, new product launches, crisis communications, special events and content creation for digital and social media.

Prior to Clif Bar, Dean held senior positions at Kaiser Permanente, The Bank of California, and Rochester Institute of Technology. He was also an Account Director at Versaggi Biocommunications and served as a journalist for HealthWeek and as a freelancer. Dean’s background as a journalist serves him well in his PR career, as he has a keen sense of what makes a compelling story.
