Club Asia Adventure Resorts was the first (privately owned) chain of Hostel Resorts across South East Asia. Key features of our properties included bunkbeds at an international standard, Restaurant & bars with international menus, Swimming Pools (in most properties), Tour desks for clients, 24 hour reception (most properties).Club Asia also owned and operated the largest retail travel agency on the adventure hub of "Khaosan Road" in the tourist district of Bangkok.Our Properties include:- Club Asia Phuket- Club Asia Phi Phi- Club Asia Coral Island- Club Asia Bangkok- Club Asia Koh Phangan- Club Asia Koh Tao- Club Asia Samui- Club Asia Chiang MaiI remained the director until Nomads World purchased the hostel business in December 2012.

Since 1989 Acacia Africa has been assisting travellers to explore Africa. I did my first overland safari with Acacia in 1991 and then joined the company in 1995. This was a time of change for Acacia. Whilst the emphasis was on overlanding.....my role was to look after sales and marketing.Being hands-on with the front line retail agents across Australia, New Zealand, North America & Europe, I realised a great demand for a new style of affordable travel throughout Africa. This is when my role expanded to include product development. This role was general international travel consulting position. Whilst in this role I periodically acted as a relief manager in other branches.I also worked with head office in developing new markets for this very traditional travel agent brand. As CBA had bank branches on every university campus across Australia, I introduced the CBA brand to the lucrative "Youth & Adventure" niche market through promotions in the bank branches.I left CBA on very good terms to return to the UK.

This was the first tour company I owned. We specialised in special events and festivals....eg Pamplona, Hogmanay, Oktoberfest, Easter in Amsterdam, etc.....SANZ operated a full travel agency services from Flights, Accommodation, Transport, Insurance.SANZ also operated full travel club facilities such as mail holding, fax service, taxback, shipping, etc.I sold out of SANZ to return to Australia. In the 70's and 80's, the London Walkabout Club was crucial for travellers heading from Australia & NZ to the UK on a working holiday. The London Walkabout club owned hotels, pubs, job agencies, travel agents & tour companies.I joined the London Walkabout Club in 1990....and this was my real apprenticeship in the travel industry. Here my roles included tour guiding, product development, travel consultancy, airport arrival pick-ups, hosting new arrival nights......what ever was needed. Everyone worked hard and played hard as part of a team.I left the London Walkabout Club to backpack around Europe.
