I study linguistics, sociology and history on my own, and have written primers on Devanagari (Hindi) and Urdu script (available on Amazon).  I speak/write/read Hindi and Urdu at an intermediate level, German at upper beginner, Spanish and Italian at beginner level, and some exposure/knowledge of Japanese, Korean, French, Arabic, Russian, Romanian and Kashmiri.

I manage aging performance and provide reporting on DSO in order to increase cash flow while enhancing customer relationships and revenue growth.

We imported hand woven pashmina clothing accessories, rugs and handicrafts directly from Srinagar, Kashmir (India) for sale in the US. Our goal was to deliver the joy of Kashmiri craft  to the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.

As Collections Supervisor for the Mojave Foods line at McCormick & Company, I oversaw a bilingual collections and customer service team and provided financial controls and management of service level agreements in order to increase cash flow while enhancing customer relationships and revenue growth.  Mojave Foods and their El Guapo line targets the Latino grocery and food market throughout the US.

I manage the Accounts Receivable and Credit department of 4 employees, covering 3000 accounts for 14 stores across the east coast.  I report directly to President, and work closely with other department executives to ensure synergy and coordination of efforts.  Since taking over the Credit Department, our average percent current has outpaced our sales growth by 4%, DSO has decreased by 3% and bad debt has decreased by over 50%, all while decreasing our cost of collecting, and increasing our bad debt recovery.

I successfully managed the department through the merger with AH Harris, adapting our processes to the needs of our new parent company.  I am a department lead in the ongoing “mega process review” for the corporation.

I have achieved these results through process efficiency, BI technology, empowerment of employees, and creation of statistical measurement and target metrics.  Highlights include:
- improved management of credit limits, and better management of low-volume accounts (38% reduction in past-due balances for this class of customers)
- created and managed credit department metrics and statistics
- improved management of lawyers and job rights to reduce collection costs and decrease bad debt
- improved training of credit associates to manage job rights, and make use of a diversity of escalation techniques
- employed reporting and BI technology, maintained dashboards and push reports

- improved training and expectations regarding credit applications and facilitation of new accounts and job opportunities
- increased accountability to credit associates for all functions of their job, including collaboration and communication with sales and customers

-  Digitized bad debt records and maintained the database
-  Researched and initiated automated past-due reminder calls, saving 25 work hours for the company from August to October 2010
-  Worked with upper management to expand automatic calls to other departments; created various collections reports for upper management
-  Designed training and procedural manual for A/R and collections
-  Managed bankruptcy, bad debt and past-due accounts for five retail stores in Iowa and Illinois
-  Provided internal and external customer service , A/R liaison for two DBA’s
