Mattia Sormani is a well-rounded physicist with a diverse academic and professional background. He holds a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of Oxford, a Master's degree in Theoretical Physics from the Università di Pisa, and a Bachelor's degree in Physics, also from the Università di Pisa, where he graduated cum laude in all his degrees. He has also earned a Diploma di Licenza in Theoretical Physics from Scuola Normale Superiore.

Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg, Mattia's research focuses on the dynamics of the interstellar medium in our Galaxy, the Milky Way, with a particular interest in the central regions dominated by the stellar bar.
