Lisa Elfring
Lisa Elfring, PhD, is an accomplished biologist and academic leader with an extensive background in molecular and cellular biology. She studied biology for her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of California, Santa Cruz and then received her PhD in Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology from the same institution. She continued her education with a postdoc in Genetics and Cell Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Throughout her career, Lisa has held numerous impressive positions, including Associate Specialist in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Arizona, where she was also Assistant Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provost for Instruction and Assessment. She has also served as an Associate Professor in the Departments of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Chemistry/Biochemistry and as a Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in the Biochemistry Department. Lisa has conducted research as a postdoctoral researcher at the Whitehead Institute twice in her career.
Lisa Elfring's expertise lies in molecular and cellular biology, genetics, and biochemistry. Her research interests are in the regulation of gene expression during embryonic development of Drosophila and the genetic basis of developmentally programmed apoptosis. She has a reputation as an excellent teacher, mentor, and leader in higher education.
