Sumedh Mehta

Sumedh Mehta is a highly accomplished Chief Information Officer (CIO) and member of the Operating Committee at Putnam Investments. He played a key role in creating Putnam’s Digital Transformation strategy in 2015 and executing it across the organization’s functional groups. This strategy led to critical strategic alignment between business and IT prioritization and facilitated an increase in corporate performance and improvement in the overall IT experience. With years of experience under his belt, Sumedh has become a trusted strategic business partner known for leading transformational change in software development, IT operations, and business operations.

Prior to joining Putnam Investments, Sumedh gained valuable experience working with industry giants such as Fidelity Investments, Marsh & McLennan Companies, and Mercer. At Fidelity Investments, he was responsible for the overall strategy and execution of IT for Equity, High Income, and Pyramis. In this role, Sumedh aligned technology investments with business priorities to help the company achieve its goals. Similarly, at Mercer, his work at the Global Operations Center led to direct increases in gross margin, with the new services model working to decrease costs and, in turn, improving quality and increasing Mercer's competitive position.

Throughout his career, Sumedh Mehta has led Change Management initiatives for global businesses, built a 1500 person BPO unit, and developed and executed process improvements for benefits administration, insurance agency back-office operations, and IT process improvements. His expertise in developing Portfolio Management, Trading, and Performance Attribution solutions, coupled with his extensive education that includes an MS in EE from Columbia University, an MBA from Babson College, and a BSc. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Southampton, makes him a highly competent professional in his domain.
