Shawn Hescock: From Small-Town Boy to BIM Specialist and Board Game Designer

Shawn Hescock grew up in La Grande, OR, where he attended his K-12 years. After moving to Portland, he attended ITT Technical Institute, where he earned an Associate's Degree in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) with highest honors. Shawn's professional career started at Glumac Engineering, where he began as a CAD drafter for the electrical department and worked his way up to become a full-time electrical designer. BIM became a crucial part of his life, and he learned a great deal from the many good people at Glumac. In 2013, Higher opportunities came to him, and he accepted a position at McKinstry, where he was responsible for designing their largest electrical project in the company's history and implementing BIM while training its use in the engineering department.

Shawn founded IndiviRev, a small company in April 2013, but has essentially shut it down at this point. Shawn needed to focus more on family and his new hobby and less on the daily grind. Thus he accepted a position at McKinstry, again, where he is now in charge of the company BIM standards and helping to bring new technologies to the company such as laser scanning.

In his off-hours, Shawn designs boardgames as a hobby. He is working on a kids' game called Tike's Dungeon, a tabletop battle game called Siege Hold, a CCG called The Language of Magic, and a tabletop RPG called The Avatar. The latter two are based on the world and lore created by Richard Garriott in his timeless games series, Ultima.
