Walt Culbertson, a healthcare technology expert with over four decades of experience, has dedicated his career to healthcare administrative and clinical transactions success. Walt began his healthcare journey in 1975 as a Navy Corpsman with a DT rating. He has since designed and developed one of the early networked desktop solutions for dentists, physicians, and clinics, the Patient Management System (PMS), during the early '80s. Walt is a recognized leader in educating and lecturing about health information technology (HIT) and HIPAA, a seasoned facilitator, and experienced in directing health care providers, health plans, and public/private initiatives' e-capabilities and migration towards digital healthcare and consumer engaged interactions.

As a HIT educator and lecturer, Walt is actively involved in initiatives to promote the applied use of HIT in health care, including electronic health records, health information exchange, electronic prescribing, tele-health and tele-pharmacy, disaster preparedness and response, physician HIT and privacy education and remote learning, community and national HIT outreach and adoption, the privacy and security of health information, and patient/consumer engagement in healthcare. Walt serves as the Founder and President of Connecting Healthcare®, has hosted and produced the local Jacksonville, FL Comcast cable program, "The Medical Update Show," and is a featured speaker at numerous healthcare and industry conferences, forums, summits, and events each year.

Walt's expertise and skills span all major facets of the health care industry, including health care operations, leadership, and technology, enabling him to help health care providers, health plans, and state, national and public/private initiatives to achieve their collective goals and objectives. He has held various leadership and technical positions throughout his career, including Vice President of HIPAA Solutions at TriZetto Corporation, Chief Technology, Security, and Privacy Officer at Availity, and Chief Technology, Security, and Privacy Officer at Webify Solutions (a Subsidiary of IBM).
