Elli Papaemmanuil

Elli Papaemmanuil is an Assistant Professor in the Computational Oncology Service at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She has a robust background in human population genetics and colorectal cancer genomics from the University of London, completed postdoctoral studies at the University of Cambridge, and has been a Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute. Working at the intersection of novel DNA sequencing technologies and data-driven science, Elli leads a translational genomics research lab at MSKCC that is an interdisciplinary team integrating experimental and computational approaches for the development of clinical decision support tools for precision oncology. Her laboratory's work includes biomarker characterization in pediatric cancers, biomarker validation, disease classification, and prognosis utilizing advanced statistical models, and the study of cancer heterogeneity, disease progression and treatment resistance. Elli and her team develop and implement novel laboratory and analytical frameworks that include WGS of spatially and temporally separated samples, single-cell genomics, and iPSC models. She was also involved in the development of Isabl, a scalable bioinformatics platform that links patient clinical and biospecimen data to comprehensive and multimodal genomic data. Elli has leveraged her expertise to lead and support several international collaborative consortia, including the International Working Group for prognostication in MDS, the International pan-myeloid meta-analysis project, and the UK MRC Adult ALL clinical trials.
