Michael Jastram is an accomplished systems engineer and requirements expert with over 20 years of experience in software design and software architecture. He is an expert in requirements engineering, management, and modeling, and he played an important role in the creation of the Requirements Interchange Format (ReqIF) standard. Michael is the project lead of the Eclipse Requirements Modeling Framework, the open-source implementation of ReqIF, and the founder of rheinjug, the Java User Group Düsseldorf. Michael's educational background includes a Dr. rer. nat. (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf, an M.S. in Ocean Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Dipl.-Ing. in Naval Architecture from Universität Hamburg. He also studied Software Architecture and Biochemistry at Harvard Extension School.

In his professional career, Michael has held various leadership and technical roles. At present, Michael is a product manager at Semiant, an intelligent agent that helps teams collaborate using an automatically generated and maintained glossary. He has previously held roles such as Project Lead Requirements Modeling Framework at the Eclipse Foundation, Geschäftsführer at Formal Mind GmbH, Lecturer at FOM Hochschule, and Senior Solutions Architect at Jama Software, among others.

Michael has published numerous articles and is a regular speaker at conferences. He is highly respected in the requirements and systems engineering communities and is known for his expertise in ReqIF, requirements engineering, management, and modeling.
