Consultant Software Engineer

Lead engineer of the PowerPath architecture team. A technical lead for a multi-national group based in the US, Russia, and India that developed and released PowerPath mulitpathing software on VMware vSphere which has generated over $300 million in revenue for EMC. A majority of the code is now also running on all major operating systems.•	Designed an XML serialization protocol to allow remote access to PowerPath using  ‘C’ based code.•	Designed performance monitoring code to provide host based metrics of storage performance and latency.•	Technical presenter at EMCWorld 2011 and 2012.•	Introduced and implemented C++ throughout the entire PowerPath line of products which operates on Vmware vSphere, Linux, AIX, Windows, HP/UX, and Solaris. •	Designed a C++ software to plug into a CIM interface to allow PowerPath to be accessible remotely. •	Designed a library to allow clients remote access to the PowerPath driver through a “command line” interface.•	Three patent applications have been filed for the above work.•	Experienced in offshoring software teams without loss of software quality and productivity.

Solely responsible for writing and supporting the C/C++ audio and MIDI User and Kernel mode drivers for all audio interfaces that function on both PC (WDM, ASIO) and Mac (Core Audio) platforms.  The devices interface with Apple and Windows based computers using FireWire 1394, PCI, and USB.•	Wrote DSP firmware on a Texas Instruments TMS3206722 for an audio mixer that handles mixing for 32 audio inputs and 32 audio outputs from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz. Designed a tunable audio delay required for synchronization with video. •	Ported drivers and applications from the Apple PowerPC platform to the Intel platform prior to the public release of the Intel Mac. Ported the Windows XP drivers and consoles to Vista prior to its public release. Worked closely with Microsoft engineers to ensure a bug free release.

Firmware Engineering Manager			         	Boulder, CO.  Jan 2001 – Jan 2002Manager for the development a mid-range SCSI tape drive while also an active individual contributor. I was responsible for firmware implementation and support of manufacturing. 		Lead Firmware EngineerBoulder, CO and Shrewsbury, MA. Jan 1994 – Jan 2001•	Lead a team to write firmware for a mid-range tape drive’s physical channel. This firmware was used to calibrate and train the read and write heads for optimal performance.  It also sequenced the physical blocks on tape reads and writes and handled any required error correction.•	Co-designed algorithms and firmware to align magnetic data tracks to optical servo tracks on the SDLT tape drives. Designed and wrote a magnetic track following servo system to allow the SDLT to read tapes written by previous DLT drives with reduced error rates. (Patent #683196)•	Co-designed and wrote the firmware for the DLT7000 to read the logical format off of tape.•	Added multiple new features to the tape drive such as support for an EEROM protocol that allowed much more versatility than previously existed. I presented this new design at Quantum’s Technical Symposium.•	Worked closely with the ASIC team to architect and develop ASIC’s and firmware for a next generation drives.
