Dr. Abdul El-Sayed, MD, DPhil, is a multidimensional individual with expertise in public health, politics, and advocacy.
As a physician, epidemiologist, educator, author, and speaker, Dr. El-Sayed's work extends to multiple platforms to address critical issues in health and public policy.
He is known for his roles as Political Contributor at CNN, host of the award-winning podcast 'America Dissected,' and author of impactful books like 'Healing Politics' and 'Medicare for All: A Citizen's Guide.'
Dr. El-Sayed's diverse background includes serving as the Health Director for the City of Detroit, where he was instrumental in rebuilding the city's Health Department post-privatization.
His educational journey includes earning a Doctorate in Public Health from Oxford as a Rhodes Scholar, a Medical Degree from Columbia, and a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan.
Currently a Towsley Policymaker in Residence at the University of Michigan, Dr. El-Sayed continues to teach and engage with the intersection of public health, public policy, and politics.
