Rick Bukata, MD

Dr. Rick Bukata is a distinguished emergency physician with a remarkable career spanning over several decades. He completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the renowned Los Angeles County / USC Medical Center back in 1975. Prior to this, Dr. Bukata served in the Indian Health Service for two years, where he notably worked as the tribe's physician at the base of the Grand Canyon for a year.

Being part of the pioneering group of trained emergency physicians, Dr. Bukata secured a staffing contract at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys, CA. In 1977, he established an emergency medicine abstracting service and initiated literature-focused courses for medical professionals starting in 1985. Over the years, he has conducted over 500 courses tailored for doctors, in addition to around 150 courses designed for Physician Assistants (PAs), Nurse Practitioners (NPs), and clinicians in both emergency and primary care settings.

In recognition of his significant contributions to medical education, Dr. Bukata was honored with the prestigious ACEP Education Award in 1993. He also served as the Director of the Emergency Department at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center for an impressive 25 years. Since 1977, Dr. Bukata has been the dedicated Medical Director of The Center for Medical Education, Inc., where he continues to drive the development of educational programs for healthcare professionals.
