Women's Peer Counselor (WPC)

Girl Up is a campaign of the United Nations Foundation that works to make sure girls across the world are safe, counted, educated and leaders in their community. At Girl Up, the teen advisors run the campaign. They ensure that Girl Up succeeds in its mission: to support the empowerment of girls, BY girls. Teen advisors help carry out advocacy goals, provide feedback on campaign materials and energize others to take action.

-  Helped plan a leadership summit in Los Angeles for 100 attendees with workshops, speakers and networking that gave girls all the tools they need to start Girl Up clubs in their own communities.
-  Met with Representative Julia Brownley and advocated for the Girls Count Act, a law that passed unanimously in Congress and was signed into law by President Barack Obama in 2014.
-  Served on Girl Up's advocacy committee and helped carry out advocacy goals.
-  Designed an awareness activity in which girls at my school recieved veils to represent the young women who are married before they turn 13 - this activity was then passed on to other Girl Up clubs in the U.S.
