Eric Green is a renowned scientist who has a wealth of professional and academic experience in genetics and genomics. He is currently serving as the director of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI), a position he has held since 2009. His leadership at NHGRI has been instrumental in advancing the understanding of genetics and genomic medicine. Under his leadership, NHGRI has supported the development of innovative technologies and data analytics to advance precision medicine.
Green was born in New York City and received his undergraduate degree in bacteriology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Later, he pursued a dual degree program in medicine and immunology at Washington University in St. Louis. After completing his medical degree, he worked at the Government’s National Institutes of Health for nearly a decade before becoming the founding director of the NIH Intramural Sequencing Center.
Eric Green is a pioneer in the fields of genetics and genomics, and has authored numerous publications in scientific journals. He has also received numerous prestigious awards for his contributions to the field, including induction into the National Academy of Medicine.
