James Larsen
James Larsen is a cleantech and sustainability expert with a passion for environmental betterment. He is a seasoned renewable energy professional with deep experience in energy storage, fuel cells, micro-hydro, and geothermal technologies. He has also founded Ivey Business School's annual Social Impact Conference and provided business advisory to young cleantech companies as an Advisor at MaRS Cleantech in Toronto.
With a diverse academic background that includes a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Queen's University, an MBA in Entrepreneurship and Finance from The University of Western Ontario - Richard Ivey School of Business, and a Diploma in Accounting from The University of British Columbia, James has developed targeted strategic recommendations for a broad range of companies in international markets. This experience includes performance improvement, customer strategy, mergers & acquisitions, IT, organization, and commercial due diligence for private equity clients.
James has also successfully executed large-scale engineering projects, gaining experience in technical design, procurement, commissioning, and project finance. Currently serving as CEO at e-Zinc and formerly as Director at Energy Storage Canada and Director of Business Development at MaRS Discovery District - Advanced Energy Centre, James is a respected leader in the cleantech industry.
