Alicia C. Aguirre is a woman of many accomplishments. She has been a council member and former mayor for the City of Redwood City, serving on many of the city's and regional committees. Among her many achievements, she is the Chair of the CCAG Board and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), and a former Trustee of Notre Dame de Namur University. Alicia also serves as the President of the Latino Caucus of the California League of Cities, and has been inducted into the Redwood City Chamber Hall of Fame.

Alicia is a professor at Cañada College, and has been teaching there since 1988. She specializes in teaching English and Spanish courses. Alicia has a Bachelor's degree in Education/Spanish from Marygrove College and the University of Detroit, as well as a Master's degree in Education from Eastern Michigan University. She has also done doctoral studies in Social Anthropology at the Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City, and was a Fulbright Exchange Professor in Argentina.
