Russ Cucina is a renowned academic physician with extensive experience in health information technology and clinical informatics. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honor and High Distinction, Chancellor's Scholar in Molecular and Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley; A degree of Medicine MD, Regents' Scholar in Medicine from the University of California, Davis - School of Medicine, and a Master's degree in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford University.

Dr. Cucina has held several leadership positions within the healthcare industry, including Vice President, Chief Health Information Officer, and Executive Director at UCSF Health, where he was responsible for information technology management and electronic health records. He has also served as an associate professor of Medicine at UCSF Health, where he advised the student body on how to incorporate technology in their medical practices. Currently, he sits on the Carequality Board of Directors as an advisor.

Dr. Cucina has contributed to electronic health records' design and implementation by co-authoring the Foundation Certification Criteria and the Inpatient Certification Criteria at the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology. He is a California Medical Association Board of Trustees former member and has been recognized for his contribution to the healthcare industry as a Health Care Leadership Fellow at the California HealthCare Foundation.
