Assistant Planner

Held key City Recorder position during vacancy with responsibility for performing high-level professional administrative support to the City Manager, Mayor, City Council, and other City departments. Oversaw public records retention/management and was responsible for the coordination and appropriate noticing throughout the municipality. Charged with updating city code to include ordinances and Charter amendments; extensive interaction with the public and internal/external agency and city officials.

-     Reported to City Manager on projects requiring high levels of organization and timeliness;
-     Acted as liaison for all City-affiliated commissions, committees, boards, and volunteer organizations;
-     Assisted in a variety of administrative tasks, including taking minutes at City Council meetings, scheduling appointments and interviews, fulfilling public records requests, and maintaining the public record;
-     Managed the City website, Facebook page, and online calendar. Edited and lay out the City's monthly newsletter using Adobe InDesign.

Joined the organization and held a Climate Action Internship position focused on fundraising and event planning activities in support of climate action advocacy.

-     Developed a plan to increase Rogue Climate’s monthly donor program from 14 to 100 givers in August, with an average recurring donation of at least $10 per month.
-     Held key committee seat to plan a fundraising event in August with over 250 attendees (raised over $10,000). Directed the efforts of 45 onsite volunteers.
-     Campaigned weekly on behalf of Rogue Climate, including canvassing and attending community events.

Joined the organization as an International Sustainability Research Associate with a focus on sustainable business practices abroad. Responsibilities ranged from research, targeting, and initial engagement to needs assessment of potential partners and policy research/development efforts. The role included extensive marketing, outreach, and promotions efforts for the organization to broaden the network as well as develop earned media.

-     Draft memos regarding environmental and social policy, business etiquette, and political leadership.
-     Identify potential partner organizations, sustainability-oriented businesses, and chambers of commerce.
-     Initiate the first point of contact – inviting organizations to participate in the USGCC's Global Sustainability Leaders series.

International Sustainability Research Associate

I taught a weekly English class to adult immigrants from Mexico. I designed all lesson plans myself, and I adapted curriculum as needed to meet the needs and abilities of my students.

The program was funded through the Instituto de los Mexicanos en el Exterior (IME) Scholarships Program and coordinated by Unete, a farm worker and immigrant advocacy nonprofit based in southern Oregon.

- Designed and co-authored the 2018 Downtown Parking Study that included engagement with over 20 downtown business owners, onsite data collection, and GIS analysis. Presented findings to the City Council, which resulted in a reconsideration of parking requirements for all future developments;
-     Organized and hosted a Community Development Fair with over 150 citizen attendees and representation from 28 government, nonprofit, and volunteer organizations;
-     Processed and approved all land use applications, including sign and fence permits, home occupations, and tree removal permits;
-     Investigated code violations and interpreted zoning laws to ensure compliance.

- Run For Office aims to have data about all elected offices. We began with the United States and we aim to release data for all elected positions across the country in advance of the upcoming 2020 elections—putting candidacy information at the fingertips of 120 million people."

Served in a key Data Collections position with focus on obtaining, developing, and archiving data and information infrastructures for the State of Oregon.

-     Collected mapping and zoning data for over 40 Oregon school districts and in-depth elections data for 36 Oregon counties.
-     Contacted government offices across three states via email and telephone to request the release of public records information.
-     Compiled extensive databases and informational resources.
