Part of the senior management team for Garena's m-commerce operations (Shopee), I had a wide role where I was in charge of overseeing the operations across several geographies, the New Markets team looking at markets beyond our traditional SE Asian ones (Iran, Myanmar, Turkey etc.) and reviewing occasional M&A/investments for the group with the Corp Dev team.Key Achievements:• Ran the Shopee Singaporean operations and oversaw 3 consecutive record sales days, by reorganising the leadership, installing an executive committee, implementing best practice processes and focusing online marketing spend on stronger ROI channels (reduced CPO by 42% in 3 months)• Implemented regular content marketing campaigns integrated across all channels to drive brand awareness, customer acquisition and engagement (#GetGreedy after Xmas and #BeAHero at Valentines Day)• Led a strategic review of the business to come up with a 6-month plan with two tiers of product categories to focus on from a vendor acquisition and assortment perspective, with an associated marketing plan based on channel and attribution analysis as well as key messaging per customer target demographic• Launched Shopee in Iran successfully in less than 2 months in December 2015, becoming the first foreign company to launch an application specifically targeted at the Iranian market and reaching the #6 most downloaded app in the country in the Google Play store after a month• Launched Shopee in Myanmar at the end of January 2016 in less than two months• Institutionalised the process of new market assessment, market entry strategy, launch and country support in the New Markets team• Formulated a Brand Book for the Shopee business to put all team members across geographies on the same page in terms of purpose, positioning, personality and values
