Diabetes Advocacy with concentrated efforts in Washington, DC. In early 2011, the JDRF Government Relations Committee proposed guidance to the FDA on how to embrace emerging technologies in the diabetes space. In the following months, numerous leading clinical organizations and over 60 Senators and 250 Representatives joined JDRF in urging FDA to act. In December 2011, the Food and Drug Administration released draft guidance for Artificial Pancreas (AP) systems, to define the requirements for product testing and approval of AP systems. Since its founding in 1970, JDRF has awarded more than $1.9 billion to diabetes research. More than 80% of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
