Michael Wiklund is a well-respected General Manager of the Human Factors Engineering practice at EMERGO by UL. He has a vast amount of experience in medical technology development, specializing in optimizing hardware and software interfaces and user documentation using human factors engineering. In 2005, he founded Wiklund Research & Design before UL acquired it in 2012. Michael is a Certified Human Factors Specialist and Licensed Professional Engineer.

Apart from working at EMERGO by UL, Michael is also a Professor of Practice at Tufts University. He teaches a graduate course on applying human factors engineering to medical technology development. He is an accomplished author with several published books on the subject of human factors, including Writing Human Factors Test Plans and Reports for Medical Technology Development and Handbook of Human Factors in Medical Device Design.

Michael Wiklund was one of the primary authors of today's most pertinent standards and guidelines - AAMI HE75, IEC 62366-1, and IEC 62366-2 on human factors engineering of medical devices. He leads UL's human factors engineering practice, which now has over 60 HFE and user interface design specialists.
