Advisor To The Board

The Swiss ICT Investor Club (SICTIC), founded in 2014 with headquarters in Zurich and a presence all over Switzerland, is a non-profit association with the goal of bringing private and corporate investors together with Swiss-based seed and early-stage tech startups. The SICTIC community comprises over four hundred business angels that help entrepreneurs take their projects to the next level. In 2021, SICTIC organised 15 startup pitching events and networking events across Switzerland online or face-to-face. Until today, over 160 innovative Swiss startups could successfully close an investment round with the help of SICTIC.

The Problem

The informal advisory sector was highly fragmented, fraught with unethical behaviour and misaligned expectations. Without clear principles to bind the global sector together, many practitioners and organisations were forced to created ad-hoc Advisory Boards. Even when the intentions were well-placed the outcomes were often compromised due to the lack of structure and focus. Organisations and high-quality Advisory Board members deserve better.

In 2017, the Advisory Board Centre was founded as an independent, global professional body to provide a strong foundation, best-practice frameworks and professional excellence to support the rapidly growing advisory sector. The Certified Chair Executive Program™ has been thoughtfully designed according to research and evidence-based methodologies. We now provide the world’s first executive education program and formal credentials developed specifically for the advisory sector.

With a global professional community of independent professional Advisors, we are leading the cause to provide critical support, best-practice frameworks and credentials to the rapidly growing advisory sector. Our purpose is to collectively raise the standard of the global advisory sector – driving value for professionals and the organisations they serve. COVID-19 has impacted IBS and our intended face-to-face trainings has to be converted to online in a short amount of time. We stand resilience and will continue to offer our blockchain courses online.

We have been exploring various business structures and the management has decided to go with a social enterprise model. In Jan 2021, the public has witnessed our transition to a social enterprise. Committed to create social value and making a social impact.

WSQ Accreditation
In Dec 2020, Certified Blockchain Consultant (CBC) has became a registered trademark. Moving forward, the goal for 2021-2022 is for CBC course to be accredited under WSQ.

16 Critical Core Skills
Last year, SkillsFuture Singapore launched the 16 Critical Core Skills.

We will be incorporating some of the soft skills, transferrable skills such as Digital Fluency, Problem Solving into our CBC curriculum.

The History of Gujaratis in Singapore is a long and enterprising one, and early Gujaratis, who were mostly merchants and traders, had first come to Singapore (then Singapura) in the late 19th century.

Today, the SGHET is a Trust of the Singapore Gujarati Society. The management of the Trust is in the hands of four elected Trustees at all times. They are normally elected at the Society's General Meeting convened for such purpose for a four year rotating term and each Trustee may not serve for more then two terms in a lifetime. This is to ensure that fresh and new blood is always available for members' benefit and well-being, and the Society remains vibrant and relevant with the times.

The SGHET and the SGS are always there to serve the Gujarati community in Singapore and new ideas and vision will hopefully lead us into a better future for all.
