Kayla Jackson is a New Orleans native, educator, writer, spoken word poet, vocal musician, and visual artist. She holds a Master's degree in English Literature and studied English and Education during her undergraduate years. Kayla is recognized for her dedication to public service, civic engagement, and social justice. She has won awards like the Jim Runsdorf Excellence in Public Service and the Tulane University Trailblazer Award for her work in the Herstory NOLA program.

Throughout her career, Kayla has held roles as a Former Career Program Manager, Freelance Writer, Presidential Fellow, Research Assistant, and Community Engagement Advocate at Tulane University. She has also worked as a Childcare Provider at the Louisiana Department of Education and a Desk Services Coordinator at Tulane Housing and Residence Life.

Kayla's creative abilities extend beyond writing and spoken word poetry. She received training in visual and performing arts at NOCCA and has served as the captain of Tulane University's slam poetry group, Rhyme Verses Rhythm.
