HEAD OF INNOVATION TEAM

Launched the internal innovation track which included concept, research and validations for full app initiatives and features of interest for the coming 18 months.

Responsibilities: Conceptualize and prioritize Initiatives. Directing and supporting full time team of app developers, UX and business dev. Format: Lean startup inspired/agile. Tracking live results and iterations were key.

Outcome: several full apps, concepts, and insights directly shaping company product strategy.


HEAD OF PRODUCT

Responsibilities: Overall product roadmap. Directing and enabling the product managers.

* Launched internal innovation track. 
Purpose: Product discovery, foster creativity, insights, iteration, and validation thinking. Rationale: We navigate in one of the fastest changing business areas where few products survive more than a few years: B2C mobile. Format: Lean startup inspired, company wide workshops spanning days or weeks. Its success allowed the innovation team to be formed and funded.
* Introduced conversion and data-driven thinking and approach in product development by utilizing BI/data analysis and implementing conversion- and mobile friendly tracking, making funnels and A/B testing a natural part of our work.
* Defined and launched a new referral system. Platform and channel independent.
Result: 100% increase (sustained long term) of paying customers via referrals within two months of project start.


HEAD OF MOBILE APPLICATIONS

Responsibilities included: Overall mobile roadmap. Directing and supporting the app product managers. Member of management team representing mobile and product.

* Introducing and championing a user-first and product focused mindset in the organization -management and teams.
* Reduced the app release cycle time by more than half for our apps, down to approx 2 weeks.
* Full UX overhaul for our Android and IOS apps.
* Communication with Apple app store review board.

Improve and innovate on the e-learning experience for desktop and mobile.
Led a team of 12+ people including project manager, developers and designers

Conceptualizing and managing student-centric web and iPad tablet applications to make the online learning experience more social and engaging. This included a major project to adapt and bring the entire online school product to the iPad tablet.

Launched social learning products including gamification features such as a system wide study reward framework, a real time multi player English Game platform, and a study challenge program which significantly increased study engagement.

Aquired 2009.

Heysan was a free instant messaging application for mobile phones. Before getting acquired by Good Technology Inc. in 2009, the company received funding from Y-Combinator and raised a series A round from Khosla Ventures (Sun Microsystems founder) and Atomico (Skype founders). Media features included Newsweek Magazine.

Responsibilities included:

• Detecting user behavior and implementation of solutions for improved user experience and retention.
• Reduced release cycle lead time from two weeks to days for front-end development by implementing streamlined work flow and procedures.
• Managed outsourced software and design projects and integrated them with inhouse efforts.
• Conceptualized and developed many key features of the application as well as frontend interfaces. Target platforms were feature phones and iPhones.

Heysan was generating revenue through virtual goods and advertising before it was aquired.

Co-founder / Product Development / UX lead

Conceptualized and built a system to automatically recognize mobile devices using our service.
API and Interface development. J2EE and LAMP environments. 

Developed and maintained mobile and SMS applications by using Java EE, JSP, PHP, Oracle and MySQL which served a wide variety of mobile based communication systems such as American Idols' mobile chatting system. Created a unique handset recognition system to seamlessly serve correct content to 1000+ handset models.
