Erik Klaassens is an independent international development practitioner with a specialization in evaluation in the fields of private sector development, renewable energy, climate change, and water and sanitation. He has extensive field experience in Africa, Asia, and Oceania, having been involved in over 20 evaluations for prestigious international clients like IFAD, EC, DFID, AfDB, Irish Aid, and various organizations based in the Netherlands.

Erik has served as both a team leader and a team member, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams in diverse, multicultural settings. His academic background includes studying at Haags Monterssori Lyceum and earning a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Development Economics and International Development from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam. With a foundation in development economics, Erik is driven by a passion for the sustainable utilization of the world's natural resources and embraces the positive impact of market forces.

Throughout his career, Erik Klaassens has held key roles in various organizations, including being the Owner of Klaassens Impact Consultancy, Senior Consultant at ECORYS Nederland, Economist and M&E Specialist at BDPA France, Evaluation Officer at the International Fund for Agricultural Development, Economist at the Institute de Formation et Recherche Démographique, and Economist at the Federal Office of Planning and Statistics.
