John H. Riley Jr. is a highly experienced executive manager in the academic healthcare and higher education industry with over 15 years of service. He holds an MBA in General Management from Dowling College and a BBA in Accounting from Siena College. His skills and expertise cut across strategic financial planning, team leadership, collaboration, benchmarking, financial analysis, mission-based management, human resource management, risk assessment, internal controls, hospital negotiations and relations, and capital project planning.

John has worked as the Associate Vice President for Health Sciences and Vice Dean for Administration & Finance at Stony Brook Medicine, where he previously held several senior positions such as Assistant Vice President for Health Sciences and Vice Dean for Administration & Finance, Associate Dean for Finance and Personnel, School of Medicine, Acting Associate Dean for Finance & Administration, School of Medicine, Director of Budget & Fiscal Services, Health Sciences Center, and Director of Financial Reporting & Analysis, Health Sciences Center.

Prior to his work at Stony Brook Medicine, he served in different capacities such as Senior Internal Auditor at Stony Brook University, Budget Officer at Town of Schodack, Internal Auditor at SUNY Systems Administration, Accountant Associate at KeyBank, and Student Assistant/Intern at SUNY Systems Administration.

John is a great communicator, well-versed in a wide variety of software and computer systems, including PeopleSoft and Oracle. He possesses strong interpersonal skills, and he can effectively communicate with others at all levels within a college, university, and hospital setting.
