Doug Bartow is an accomplished design team leader, advocate for the design community, and founder of id29, a renowned design and marketing firm based in Troy, New York. With over 25 years of experience in brand design across all media, Doug has worked with national and international businesses and organizations, building a reputation for creative excellence based upon research and sound business strategy.

As Co-founder & Design Director at id29, Doug has managed and art directed his award-winning design team, building their reputation regionally and nationally. He has lent his expertise to brands such as Cobra PUMA Golf, Pitney Bowes, Firefly Bicycles, and the New York State Parks, and has been responsible for the design direction of the firm since its opening in 2003.

Prior to founding id29, Doug served as the Director of Design for the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA). During his 8-year tenure, Doug helped put the country's largest arts center on the world’s cultural map by designing its identity system, wayfinding and gallery signage, print collateral, exhibition catalogs, merchandise, and web presence. He established the MASS MoCA Design Department in 1995—four years before the museum's public opening in May 1999—and collaborated directly with the fabrication team building the early signage and wayfinding system in-house.

Doug holds an MFA in 2D Design from the esteemed Cranbrook Academy of Art and a BFA in Graphic Design from the State University of NY at New Paltz. He frequently lectures on design and has written for design publications such as Speak Up and HOW Magazine. In 2010, he was named by "Graphic Design USA" as one of the top 50 People to Watch. When he's off the clock, Doug enjoys fishing in the Adirondacks, playing in the local recreational soccer league, and watching Liverpool F.C. play.
