Arnold Kemp is an accomplished artist, curator, writer, and educator with an impressive 20-year career spanning multiple disciplines. He holds a Master of Fine Arts from Stanford University and a BA/BFA in English Literature and Studio Art from Tufts University. With solo exhibitions held in major cities across the US and Mexico, Kemp’s work is revered by both public and private collectors, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Kemp’s career also includes notable positions such as Chair of the MFA in Visual Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art and Chair of Painting and Printmaking at Virginia Commonwealth University. He was also an Associate Curator for visual art at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. His work has been recognized by prestigious awards such as the Guggenheim Fellowship, Pollock Krasner Grant, Joan Mitchell Fellowship, Cité International des Arts Paris Residency, and Pen Writers Grant.

In addition to his various accolades, Kemp has demonstrated his leadership skills through his success in curatorial and academic positions. He has a knack for working collaboratively with others, budget management, recruitment, fundraising, grant writing, marketing, and communications. His work is represented by Fourteen 30 in Portland, OR. Currently, Kemp serves as the Dean of Graduate Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
