Eric Reiss is a seasoned business strategist, workshop leader, and writer, with over three decades of experience in the creation of menu-based programs, multimedia, and web projects. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in St. Louis and Chicago. After earning a degree in BA with a double major in Political Science and Performing Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, Eric moved to Denmark and served as a stage director at the Danish Royal Theatre in Copenhagen.

In 1979, Eric published his first commercial program for optimizing theatrical seating systems, followed by co-authoring the first Danish-language adventure game for the Sinclair Spectrum. Since 1984, he has been a full-time writer and business strategist with a particular emphasis on usability and web content. Eric is the Chairman of the EuroIA Summit Committee, and he serves on various advisory boards for universities and institutions in both North America and Europe. He is also a past two-term President of the Information Architecture Institute and was a Professor of Usability and Design at the IE Business School in Madrid, Spain, for three terms.

Eric has authored several written works that include Honeymoon Trail (musical), Marionettes (one-act play), Skabet (computer adventure game), The Compleat Talking Machine, The Egyptologist's Vademecum (publication delayed), Practical Information Architecture, Web Dogma '06 (e-zine Boxes and Arrows), and Usable Usability. Eric's areas of expertise span various industries such as telecommunications, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, industrial products and processes, software, and other business-to-business communications.
