I worked with the team to establish foundational recruiting operations:

I started out by introducing leveling guidance and benchmarked salary ranges to streamline recruitment and run internal pay audits.  I implemented Lever along with structured interviews while partnering with all departments to make offers and achieve hiring goals.  I also worked with the team to facilitate new hire orientations, including 30,60,90 day check ins, buddy programs and cross team introductions.

I celebrated GRAX’s unique culture with a variety of programs:

I designed and managed the performance review process, including twice per year check-ins for self, manager and upwards reviews.  To ensure the success of our people programs I developed training materials via written documentation, custom workshops and shared articles.  I partnered with Leaders and Managers on change efforts, performance management and team building. I contributed to the day to day employee experience with thoughtful virtual event design, recognition programs and establishing a central location for all company documentation.

I was also in charge of... running payroll and managing benefits with Gusto and overseeing compliance :)

As the first HR hire, I developed the systems required to grow from 45 to 100 and beyond:
-  Led team of 6 (Recruiting, Office, People and Experience) to support a globally distributed team.
-  Implemented new compensation strategy w/salary bands and leveling matrix.
-  Updated HR Stack (Gusto → Paylocity + Sapling + Sequoia).
-  Led HR audit, developed missing policies and updated the company handbook.
-  Updated new hire onboarding program to increase new hire satisfaction and streamline all technical components.
-  Led remote first team initiatives.
-  Partnered with managers and employees to create team growth and learning opportunities.
-  Implemented Modern Health to provide company sponsored coaching and therapy.

I was tasked with maximizing the potential of a high-end event space portfolio by leveraging the unique employee experience and event services provided by the Heroku Vibe Team.  Services included catering and IT for up to 30 events per month with additional wellness activities such as Yoga or Meditation instruction.

I developed a VIP process for Salesforce employees and the community to book meeting rooms and services by streamlining the reservations system, implementing pre/post surveys to collect data for ongoing improvements and introducing waitlists to keep valuable space from sitting empty.

As an independent consultant for bay area companies I was able to engage in part time, project based work that allowed me to spend more time with my new family.

I played a major role in integrating various people and business processes between Heroku and Salesforce while maintaining leadership over Heroku's most valuable asset, the people!

My newly formed People and Culture team was responsible for building and delivering new hire on-boarding and off-boarding programs, including new hire paperwork and benefits coordination.  I produced  and organized a monthly New Hire Orientation called Heroku Academy that brought together leaders from each department to connect with new hires.

I worked closely with our Recruiting Manager and Executives to track and hire against our quarterly headcount plans.  By working closely with recruiters, coordinators and hiring managers I was able to design and implement efficient, scalable processes to help hire quality candidates with a great hiring experience.  I also led the design of our new careers page and ATS integration by working with members from marketing, engineering, design and recruiting operations.

I supported new hire managers and candidates/employees through lengthy and complicated Visa and Relocation cases by working directly with our immigration firms to ensure timely accurate advice.

I administered weekly TinyPulse Happiness Surveys, analyzed data, identified actions, reported findings and implemented changes.

I helped deliver Training and Development programs for our managers by identifying needs and scheduling trainings.

I had the opportunity to observe and provide administrative support for Compensation Reviews and Performance Management cases.

Heroku was acquired by <a href="http://Salesforce.com">Salesforce.com</a> in 2010 but maintained an independent Office and Vibe Services Team.  I led a 5 person team responsible for the delivery of high energy, next level people programs that helped make Heroku a great place to work.

Vibe Manager

Pioneers of the Inevitable aka Songbird was an Open Source Media Player and alternative to iTunes.

At Songbird I reinvented the Office Manager role and started my journey as the Vibe Manager.  For me, a Vibe Manager is both an operational and inspirational resource for all teams and employees.  By listening closely and observing the emergence of authentic team interaction, I was able to highlight the most positive bits and reinforce them with tangible programs to lay the foundation for a sustainable culture.

Pioneers of the Inevitable

Teatro Zinzanni is a dinner theater located in an original circus tent in San Francisco and Seattle offering fine dining along with professional circus performances.

I was hired on as a Cocktail Waitress, promoted to Server and eventually to Face Painter & Photographer.  Each night required full costume and make up, with bit parts to support the main acts.

Ciao Bella was a dinner theater restaurant set amongst the Redwoods in the Santa Cruz Mountains.  I started as a Busser and was promoted to Head Busser and Server.

In addition to serving tables, we provided original entertainment in the form of singing, dancing and character performance.
